The Dawn of Darkness

The Year is 3235 on the planet Mobius. It’s a warm mid-summer day on the South Island. On the Edge of the Great Forest, far from Knothole Village, sits a small hut.

Around the hut is a small vegetable garden, and some fruit trees. In one of the trees, a yellow flying squirrel is gathering some fruit.

As the squirrel gathers the fruit, the branch supporting him breaks, sending him down. Apon seeing his friend in danger, an armadillo rushes from the hut and catches the squirrel.

Squirrel: "Thanks Mighty! I owe you one"

Mighty: "No prob Ray. Just seeing you safe is payment enough."

Ray smiles and both friends head into the hut.

Ray and Mighty are the best of friends. They have lived together most their lives and love each other like brothers. There’s nothing they wouldn’t do for each other.

Later that night, Mighty hears a noise from outside the house. Mighty goes to Ray’s room to check on his friend and see if Ray hears the noise too.

Mighty: "Yo Ray! You hear those noises outside?"

Ray: "Yeah....but I just thought it was you gathering some more food."

Mighty: "Looks like we have ourselves an intruder!"

Ray and Mighty head outside and look around the house. Just as the two are about to give up, a shadowy figure trips over a watermelon in the garden and falls face first onto the ground. Mighty then pins the intruder down as Ray lights a candle to see the intruder.

Intruder: "Hey! Let me go!"

When the candle is lit, Ray and Mighty see a white fox with two tails and looks allot like Miles "Tails" Prower (A freedom Fighter from Knothole Village).

Mighty: "Who are you? And what are you doin’ sneaking around?"

Intruder: "I am Jesse Prower, but my friends call me Solar. I was hungry, so I didn’t think you’d mind me taking a few goodies from your garden."

Ray: "If you were hungry, all you had to do is ask. We would have given you something to eat."

Solar: "Well with the way Robotnik screwed things up, you can’t blame me for trying to steal something without you knowing. Everyone is so jumpy lately."

Mighty: "Your welcome to come inside and help yourself. We have plenty of food. Just no more stealing, okay?"

Ray helps Solar up.

Solar: "OK......thanks....."

Ray: "Is something wrong?"

Solar: "I’m just not used to peeps being so nice to me. That’s all."

Inside, Solar helps himself to the food that Ray and Mighty offered. As Solar hungrily devours his meal, Ray and Mighty talk in the next room. After Solar finishes his meal, Ray and Mighty walk back into the room with Solar.

Mighty: "So Jess. You got anyplace to stay?"

Solar: "Not unless you count the trees, heh. Oh well, it’s better than nothing I guess."

Ray: "Don’t you have a family or any friends you can stay with?"

Solar: *saddly* "Robotnik killed my parents..... I used to live up north in the Northern Wastelands. When the fat guy captured my parents, his roboticizer couldn’t take away their free will.....so he had them destroyed. Since then I’ve been on my own.....wandering across Mobius..."

Solar begins to cry, and Ray puts an arm around Solar.

Ray: "It’ll be OK......Robotnik ruined all our lives in some way. ......Your welcome to stay with me and Mighty if you want."

Solar: "Huh? ....no.....I couldn’t impose. You guys have done enough."

Ray: "You wouldn’t be imposing."

Mighty: "Besides, it’s starting to rain. You don’t wanna get sick, do you?"

Solar: *Smiles* "Thanks allot guys. Alright. I’ll stay for a little while, until I find a pad of my own, k?"

Ray: "Deal!"

Time passes. Two years to be exact, and over that time, the trio became close friends. Also over that time, a group called the Dark Legion has begun to spread their rein of terror through-out the Great Forest.

The Dark Legion is a group of individuals who make it their goal to spread their evil influence across Mobius in hopes of one day ruling the planet.

On one late afternoon, Ray and Mighty were out in the Great Forest trying to see who’s faster. As the two round a corner on the path, they notice a boulder in their way. Ray jumps up and uses his wings to glide him over the Boulder, while Mighty uses his strength to punch through it. As the two reach the finish line, both run as fast as they can, trying to outrun the other. Both of them end up finishing in a tie.

Mighty: *Catching his breath* "Good race...Same time tomorrow?"

Ray: *Catching his breath* "Yep!"

Mighty: "Too bad Solar missed this, he would’ve had fun. I hope he gets back soon. Where’d he go again?"

Ray: "He said he had to visit some relatives in the east....I thought he had no family?"

Before Mighty can say a word, he hears someone calling for help in the forest.

Ray: "Is something wrong Mighty?"

Mighty: "I thought I heard something. You stay here, I’m gonna check it out."

Ray: "Be careful."
